The British Empire's Contribution to Victory

  1. Anzac and Canadians, South Africans became the shock troops of the British Empire. always sent against the toughest German positions

The following colonies and protectorates were also involved including Black, White, Indian and Arab: Gold Coast, Nigeria, British East Africa, Uganda, Southern and Northern Rhodesia, Nyasaland, Basotholand, Swaziland, Bechuanaland, Zanzibar (then part of BEA), Sierra Leone, Seychelles all contributed forces and labour to the British effort as did German East Africans as the Germans moved south into Portuguese East Africa. Troops from Egypt were also involved.

  3. We should not over look the fact that there were a large number of Americans serving in the Canadian forces and smaller numbers in some of the other Imperial Forces.
