Great War Graphics

Our contributing editor Tony Langley has a wonderful collection of graphic art that supplemented photography in the publications of all the belligerents.  Here are some selections from Tony that range from (what's called today) photo-realism to fiction and from serious to silly.

  3. The Poilu cooking his dinner with electricity from a railway catenary.... did they actually try this? What could possibly go wrong?

    1. In the Nam we used a small hunk about the size of a golf ball of C4 from a Claymore Mine to heat a C ration can. It burned very fast and hot; one had to be alert as to not scorch the contents. The canabalized Claymore had enough C4 for multiple cooking sessions.
