I notice that Pershing's letters to his son were all typed. Given Pershing's age, background and position, it seems likely that these were all typed for him by a HQ clerk.
ReplyDeleteI noted in a March 1918 letter that Pershing encouraged his young son to work on his penmanship so that it would benefit him as an adult. Perhaps Pershing's own penmanship was poor, leading him to having his letters typewritten.
