Not Huns: Portrayals of German Soldiers to the Homefront Audience

All the participants in the war had full-color magazines that purported to cover the war but were unknowingly (or is some cases knowingly) instruments of state propaganda. All of them portrayed the frontline soldier with maximum sympathy. The finest artists and illustrators were called upon to assist with this effort. I thought the readers might enjoy some of these moving depictions of German troops from the early war period.
