My Eye-Opening Visit to the National World War I Museum in Kansas City

The recent symposium in Kansas City sponsored by the National World War I Museum and the National World War One Commemoration Commission was very well conducted, highly informative, and most helpful for me for networking with other like-minded students of the Great War.  Of course one aspect of the event was that we had full access to was the museum itself. And I must say, this was the most inspiring part of my trip. The museum was just filled with visitors who found the events of the period and the heritage of the country they were rediscovering absolutely fascinating. You could see that they were both interested in the factual stories and were emotionally moved by what they were seeing. I found watching the crowd as enjoyable as looking over the exhibits. This is what it looked like.

BEST TO ALL: Were the kids. Bless the museum staff for putting together the sorts of displays that get children attracted to history so they can learn about their traditions and cultures.

Thanks to Mike Vietti of the Museum Staff for the Photos

  2. I'm in St. Joseph, MO, for Thanksgiving, and I'm planning on going to the museum. I usually go 2–3 times per year, and always find something new to see and learn. The museum staff does a wonderful job of producing temporary special displays and events. I tell my friends that if in KC, that they have to go to the museum.
