Recently, there has been German participation in the ceremonies at the Marine Memorial in Belleau Wood and the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery on Sunday. During the weekend, the German attendees conduct a poignant wreath-laying at the cemetery. Of interest was along the Calonne Trench - encountered a smaller Germany cemetery where the bodies had been moved yet some headstones remained as well as the indentations in the ground where the graves had been.
