Great Then and Now Photos of the Messines Battlefield

Messines Ridge was captured on  7 June 1917 due to the effectiveness of the greatest mining operation of the war. On this part of the front the mines would have detonated in the foreground, below the rise up to the ridge.  The photos appear at 580 px width, but can be enlarged to 700 px.
