Of the living; but the dead returning lightly dance.

Photos of the British in Jerusalem, 1917–1920

I found these photos, a small 12-image selection from a set of 292, on the Library of Congress website.  All were new to me. They are arrayed in approximate chronological order. The entire set can be viewed HERE. The images  are displayed at 580 px width, but can viewed at 1000 px by clicking on them.

  1. If you go to the catalog record at https://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2007675259/, you can view them in the album using the bottom thumbnail on the left.

We've also scanned all of the Matson negatives which you can search or browse at https://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/matpc/. It's a little harder to get just WWI photos as they don't usually have a "World War, 1914-1918" subject heading.
