  1. One other I would add is the commander of the U.S. 301st Heavy Tank Bn. in support of the 27th Division assault on the Hindenburg Line: Maj. Ralph I. Sasse. Sasse left the Tank Corps in 1920 as a Cavalry captain. Over the next two decades he served in various Cav. assignments and coached the USMA football team in 1928 and 1930-33, becoming one of West Point's winningest coaches.
