These bring back so many memories--and make me want to watch them all again. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnother Great film was Jean Renoir's "La Grande Illusion". Some of the scenes when the German CO of the Prison camp reveals the loneliness of command are very moving.
ReplyDeleteAnd "Wings" - the scenes when the returning hero visits the parents of his comrade.
But please, not "Hell's Angels" - dreadful film; the original Blockbuster. Mae West is worth seeing though....
These all have great cinema photography. But for shear power J'accuse that used real soldiers from the horrors of the front for filming and THEN had them return to the front... back to the horrors after playing ghosts... It just can't be passed up.
