If you have been watching Ken Burns's American Revolution series on PBS, you'll recognize historian Edward Lengel, who provides expert commentary on the war and, especially, George Washington. Ed is a leading biographer of the Father of Our Country and was once Director of the Washington Papers Project. He has also written extensively on the American participation in the First World War. Longtime readers of Roads to the Great War know that, over the years, we have reviewed his books, HERE and HERE, and drawn on them for articles HERE, for example
For this article, I'd just like to make sure that our readers are fully aware of Lengel's body of work. They are well written and have details that I've not seen in other works on the same subject. He is a superb researcher. Two of his five works are compilations of in-depth articles and resources on the AEF. MH
